What true love means -
The world takes us to a silver screen on which flickering images of passion and romance play, and as we watch, the world says, ‘This is love’
God takes us to the foot of a tree on which a naked and bloodied man hangs and says, ‘THIS is love’

The farsighted, perfect love that seeks the perfection of its object does not weakly shrink away from present, momentary suffering. Our Father’s love is too steadfast to be weak. Because He loves His children, He “disciplines us… that we may share in his holiness” (Hebrews 12:10). With this glorious purpose in sight, He does not relieve our crying. Made perfect through...

Glorious Lord
‘I do not cease to give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers, that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give you a spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the knowledge of him, having the eyes of your hearts enlightened, that you may know what is the hope to which he has called you, what are the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, and what is the...

You will never learn faith in comfortable surroundings. God gives His promises in a quiet hour, seals our covenants with great and gracious words, and then steps back, waiting to see how much we believe. He then allows the Tempter to come, and the ensuing test seems to contradict all that He has spoken. This is when faith wins it’s crown. This is the time to look up through the storm, and...

Job 29:11-16
When the ear heard, it called me blessed, and when the eye saw, it approved, because I delivered the poor who cried for help, and the fatherless who had none to help him. The blessing of him who was about to perish came upon me, and I caused the widow’s heart to sing for joy. I put on righteousness, and it clothed me; my justice was like a robe and a turban. I was eyes to the blind and feet...
Fact, Faith & Experience
Have you ever tried walking a ridgepole? It’s dangerous, precarious, and necessitates the ability to walk with unwavering nerve. A ridgepole is a narrow stretch right at the peak of a barn’s roof, and such a challenging gymnastic routine has led many a man to the emergency room and many an arm into a cast.
There is a story that has passed around the Church for generations that has often been...
Faith
Part of faith is accepting His sovereignty over all things on earth. That goes against every trace of common sense in us and involves so much of accepting uncertainty on our part, that when you stop and start to wonder about it, it’s perhaps startling because you realise how far you’ve gone against normal conventions.
But God then again reminds us that He is truly worth it all, our...

Waking the Dead - John Eldredge
If you’re not pursuing a dangerous quest with your life, well, then, you don’t need a Guide. If you haven’t found yourself in the midst of a ferocious war, then you won’t need a seasoned Captain. If you’ve settled in your mind to live as though this is a fairly neutral world and you are simply trying to live your life as best you can, then you can probably get by with...
All Who Are Thirsty
All who are thirsty
All who are weak
Come to the fountain
Dip your heart in the stream of life
Let the pain and the sorrow
Be washed away
In the waves of His mercy
As deep cries out to deep
Come Lord Jesus come
Holy Spirit come
As deep cries out to deep

I cling to the cross
I cling to the cross and everything it means, I know it’s the only hope there is for saving me. For without Your great mercy, I would be forever lost. With a thankful heart I come, and cling to the cross.
The world behind me, the cross before me. The world behind me, the cross before me. The world behind me, the cross before me.
No turning back, no turning back.

There is a homeless man that comes to church at least once a day. He always sits in the back and prays and sings alone. One day, my daughter got up and left our pew, grabbed this man’s hand, & led him to our pew and told him “no one should have to pray alone.” Her acceptance & love for everyone GMH.
Love
It felt like a selfish part of me died, and God planted in it’s place seeds of love which started to grow and nurture beautifully. Certainly not because there is any beauty to be found in my soul, for I have missed the mark in so many ways.. but because He makes all things new in His image.
How wonderful, marvelous and perfect He is :)

Wild Flowers in the King's garden
“Much-Afraid looked at the Shepherd earnestly. ‘I have often wondered about the wild flowers…it does seem strange that such unnumbered multitudes should bloom in the wild places of the earth where perhaps nobody ever sees them…They have so much beauty and sweetness to give and no one on whom to lavish it, nor who will even appreciate it.’ The look the Shepherd turned...

'Feed My Sheep'
When we love others by our own strength, we set ourselves up for disillusionment if the people we reach out to reject us. There are so many brick walls to face along the way, someday we’ll simply crash and burn.
But God, He gives us His perfect way of loving if we seek and ask. This is the essence of loving a ministry - that we learn to love like He does and recognise that it is His sheep...
The Prodigal God - Timothy Keller
It is hard for us to realize this today, but when Christianity first arose in the world it was not called a religion.
It was the non-religion.
Imagine the neighbors of early Christians asking them about their faith. ”Where’s your temple?” they’d ask. The Christians would reply that they didn’t have a temple. “But how could that be? Where do your priests labor?” The Christians would have...

Hosanna: A cry of praise/adoration to God.
The bridge of Hosanna (Hillsong) sums up the Christian walk perfectly :)
Heal my heart and make it clean, open up my eyes to the things unseen. Show me how to love like you have loved me.

Note to self
No matter how busy life gets, no matter the 97174839 deadlines waiting to be met at the end of each day/week/month, you must start each day in a time of prayer. Fervent prayer and ultimate dependence on God.
Commit everything into His hands, then run the race He sets out before you. You don’t need to consciously look out for signs or checkpoints along the way.
Perhaps, better is the road...
The Test of Self-Interest - Oswald Chambers
As soon as you begin to live the life of faith in God, fascinating and luxurious prospects will open up before you, and these things are yours by right; but if you are living the life of faith you will
exercise your right to waive your rights, and let God choose for you.
God sometimes allows you to get into a place of testing where your own welfare would be the right and proper thing to consider...
On Devotion
There is something about studying the lives of those in the bible with unswerving devotion to our heavenly Father. Moses, Noah, Elijah, Job.. just to name a few. Who they themselves can’t offer a full explanation as to why they live their lives as such, even when God seems silent at times, even when they doubt His presence and His hand at work during these moments.
They may stumble along...
Arms Open Wide - Hillsong
Take my life I lay it down
At the cross where I am found
All I have I give to You oh God
Take my hands and make them clean
Keep my heart in purity
That I may walk in all You have for me
Oh here I stand
Arms open wide
Oh I am Yours
And You are mine
Take my moments and my days
Let each breath that I take
Be ever only for You oh God
My whole life is Yours
I give it all

Amazed
You dance over me while I am unaware
You sing all around but I never hear the sound
Lord I’m amazed by You
Lord I’m amazed by You
Lord I’m amazed by You
And how You love me
You paint the morning sky with miracles in mind
My hope will always stand
For You hold me in Your hand
How deep how wide
How great is Your love for me
He calls me child :)
The Weaver
My life is but a weaving between my Lord and me,
I cannot choose the colors He worketh steadily.
Oftimes he weaveth sorrow,
And I in foolish pride
Forget He sees the upper
And I, the underside.
Not till the loom is silent
And the shuttles cease to fly
Shall God unroll the canvas
And explain the reason why.
The dark threads are as needful
In the Weaver’s skillful hand

Lead me on, Lord
“If Jesus ever gave us a command He could not enable us to fulfil, He would be a liar; and if we make our inability a barrier to obedience, it means we are telling God there is something He has not taken into account. Every element of self-reliance must be slain by the power of God. Complete weakness and dependence will always be the occasion for the Spirit of God to manifest His...
Dare I pray this prayer?
‘Show me Your glory’.
May this be my heart’s cry, no matter how panic-stricken I may be in proclaiming this.
For everything that I have built my life upon.. may I count it all as loss.
