On Valentine’s Day

What true love means -

The world takes us to a silver screen on which flickering images of passion and romance play, and as we watch, the world says, ‘This is love’

God takes us to the foot of a tree on which a naked and bloodied man hangs and says, ‘THIS is love’

Joshua Harris: I kissed dating goodbye

There is a difference between believing that God is holy and gracious, and having a new sense on the heart of the loveliness and beauty of that holiness and grace.

The difference between believing that God is gracious and tasting that God is gracious is as different as having a rational belief that honey is sweet and having the actual sense of its sweetness.

On Love

theavant-gardeplaylist:

  • Eros loves the surface, the appearance, it wants
  • Philos gives, but also longs to receive, it loves you and me
  • Agape doesn’t understand what want it is, it’s sole purpose is to give unconditionally, it cannot be broken, it cannot go away, it loves you regardless of what you can give back.

I really believe that if we receive this pure heart of Jesus and we have the heart of the Father beating in us, then we will start to see the One. We will start to see “the One” in front of us. They may be a child under a bridge, they may be wealthy, but they will be the one you see, they will be the one you can touch, they will be the one God put in front of you. That’s the Gospel. “Stop for the One, Love the One”.

God didn’t tell you to start a home for a thousand children. Maybe he didn’t tell you to do that, like He told me, to just be crazy and take them all in. Maybe he didn’t tell you to do that. But He did tell you to stop for one person. And if you can allow it to be that focused, if you can say ‘Okay, I don’t have to win the world, I don’t have to be a mighty evangelist, I don’t have to have a huge crusade in a stadium, but I do, I do, I am obligated, I am called, I am compelled to see, I will not be blind anymore.’

The Church has been blind! Blind! Just walking by the dying man, waiting for somebody else to stop, thinking somebody else has to do it, and Jesus is saying ‘No. I want you. I want you to love. Just you. Just you. Just you. I want just you to stop for just one’. And you’re not overwhelmed anymore, because God didn’t tell you to stop for 10,000, He told you to stop for just one. One. And that one will stop for another one.

If you say you love God, then you will love the person in front of you. You will love your neighbor. That’s the Gospel. That’s the beauty of it. It’s that simple. That simple.
